Aqua cord ropework
Unique, thrilling ...and it’s in Brittany
You may not have heard of what is known as “aquacord”. But that is not surprising. This activity was only created 4 years ago on the fabulous cliffs of Brittany by some climbing instructors and canyoning enthusiasts. Abseiling, diving, cliff-climbing in total safety : Jump into a world of thrills and find peaks of pleasure! Once you’ve tried it, you’ll want to do it again and again.
OK, so Brittany doesn’t have any canyons. But that doesn’t matter, as it does have some magnificent cliffs plunging down into deep blue seas. At Pen Hir Point at the tip of Finistère at the western end of the Crozon Peninsula, some specialists came up with this new sport: Aquacord, an amazing mixture of climbing and canyoning.
A majestic backdrop
My first abseil plunged me straight into the activity. With a beaming smile, I had my first taste of this aqua ropework and felt perfectly safe. The Face Ouest team take good care of you and are very professional, so I put myself in their expert hands. At the top of the cliffs or down in the water, which ever way you look at them, the cliffs are quite majestic. Fastened to my rope, it is a sight that takes your breath away. It was so thrilling that one go at it was not enough: I’m going to do it again as soon as I get the chance.
Your first steps
Aquacord does not require any particular physical skills. Before setting out on your first adventure, you will be kitted out in a wetsuit, helmet and harness, to be able to carry out the activity safely and at your own speed. From your first outing, you’ll feel all the thrills. Looking down at the sea and diving into sheltered creeks, you’ll see the coast in a totally new light.
