Kitesurfing
Pulled along on a board
Kitesurfing brings together funboarding and kite flying and today its power to pull you along is well known and very attractive. Moving along the water, taking off and flying...with the most recent board sport, everything is possible. Time to go down to one of Brittany’s top spots.
I can conquer the sea and air! As with all beginners I took a few lessons to start out and very soon I was down on the huge beach at Kerhilio on the Quiberon Peninsula. This magnificent beach is well-known for being one of the best places to go kitesurfing in Brittany.
Between the sea and the sky
Fitted out with a jumpsuit and helmet with a walkie-talkie system to receive instructions and advice from the monitor, I easily understood the attraction of this magical sport. You soon get hooked. Very quickly, I had the feeling that I was floating and flying at the same time.
Your first steps
On the huge beach, your quest for kitesurfing excitement begins with a short briefing and presentation of the equipment that is supplied. Then, there is the idea of a flight and take-off slot. You learn to fly a small kite on the beach, then you are pulled along for the first time in the shallow water with the board touching the sand… And you’re off on your fist trial runs. After three hours of lessons, you try to get on the float and find your balance to stand up.
