Brest harbour
Safe and popular waters
In Finistère, Brest harbour offer 150 square kilometres of water, on which fans of sailing can carry out their favourite activity throughout the year. Joined to the Iroise Sea by a narrow mile-wide channel, it therefore offers a safe and sheltered area for sailing. Competitions, the starts of major races...many events are organised on the water each year.
Brest harbour is suitable for all levels, from amateur sailors to racers. Each year, it hosts competitions like the Edhec Regatta, the biggest student sports gathering in France. There are four water-sports centres based around these waters and everything is in place to allow people to sail dinghies and catamarans safely, whatever the weather conditions. Brest harbour offers unspoilt sights that you can also discover thanks to the coastal footpaths. It’s all very close to the Crozon Peninsula and indeed to the islands of Ushant, Sein and Molène.
